The number of seniors in our community continues to grow. Many of the core issues I support impact seniors profoundly. Among these: supporting mental Health, expanding affordable housing, and creating opportunities for community building and inclusion.
I am very excited for the proposed senior housing unit slated for 472 Main Street, which will be integrated with the dog park. That kind of mixed-use development encourages people of different ages to mingle with one another and encourages pedestrian traffic.
Acton needs to encourage builders to move in the direction of building units for seniors that may be 1-to-2 bedrooms and with handicapped accessibility, and move away from the 4000+ square foot single family home.
